3 Hacks to Automating Your BIG Audacious Goals

One of the things that I notice when coaching high performance, high achieving, highly successful people is that at times they too get stuck, just like everyone else. It seems everyone has that plateau for which we are unable to move past and in those moments most of us justify staying still instead of pushing through to the other side.

The problem is that the process that got you stuck is one that you actively participated in. You are the reason that you plateaued. This roadblock then created feelings of frustration, hesitation, and even procrastination. When people feel stuck, people often stop moving forward.

Today I will be sharing how you got to this point of being stuck and frustrated and 3 things that you can do to get unstuck, productive, and back on track to achieving your BIG audacious goals. This is the process that will help you execute your plan and become unstoppable.

The Reason

There are a number of reasons that people get stuck. Here are a few:

-        You accomplished a BIG life goal and never set a new one.

-        You started a family.

-        You’re too busy at work.

-        You didn’t know how to move forward or where to look for help.

-        Your environment is depressing.

In the most basic setting, life got in your way. You went from Striving to Surviving.

In any case, you are probably thinking about things that you wish you could do, or wish you had.

Everything becomes a someday I’m going to...

Someday…I’ll work towards that promotion…

Someday…I’ll quit this job and find something I truly enjoy…

Someday…I’ll start a business…

Someday…I’ll spend more time with my partner, family, or friends…

But inevitably you justify why today is not that day…

Excuses become the reasons why you can’t make big changes in your life.

But Listen…

There is good news…

This isn’t your fault. This is actually what happens to all of us. No exceptions. At one point in all of our lives, everyone experiences this condition.

Comfort takes over and it’s more appealing to do what’s easy and avoid the unknown.

Trust me I’ve been there!!

So, let me share a few ways that you can help yourself get unstuck, so you can turn yourself into a highly productive, high-achieving, plan-crushing goal achiever!

I am going to show you how to leverage some systems that your mind already uses!!

Ok, here we go, “The 3 Hacks to Automating Your Big Audacious Goals:”

Hack #1 – Your mind needs to focus

The first thing that you must do is set goals. You have to be a goal setter. Your mind needs goals so it can focus on what you want to accomplish. Otherwise, it will focus on what it has focused on for the entire existence of humanity. Safety, security, and comfort. This is why every week I tell you to make a plan for the week. I tell you to write your goals down and say them out loud.

Accomplishing this weekly will activate the second hack that your brain is already using.

Hack #2 – The Reticular Activating System

Setting goals and plans will trigger mind hack #2 which is the system in your brain that helps you automate processes, behaviors, and habits. The reticular activating system.

Writing your goals and talking about them with yourself or others helps your mind recognize that these are important focus areas for you. The more consistent this habit of writing down goals and discussing them the more easily your mind will keep it a top focus for you.

If you’ve ever wanted something really bad then you have probably experienced this system at work.

Say you want to buy a new car and you start figuring out how to obtain it, but you run into obstacles. Like you aren’t sure how you can afford it. Not if you can afford it, but how you can afford it.

This system would go to work for you highlighting ways that could help you afford it. This happened to me when I purchased my truck, basically my dream vehicle. I never believed I could afford it, but then over the course of about a week, I started to see different ways I could make it work. Trimming a budget here, accessing additional income there, and boom 4 years later I paid off the 3rd biggest purchase of my life.

This system can work really well on small goals but will not likely carry you to really BIG goals. Those BIG life goals will require another automatic system that your mind already uses.

Hack #3 - Reward Based Learning

This system places a focus on outcomes that you enjoy and then prioritizes your attention to those outcomes.

This means, that if you can find a reward for creating habits that can produce the skills that you need to accomplish your long-term BIG goals then you will do it with greater ease and attention.

In fact, most people that do not achieve their big goals, dreams, and desires in life are struggling because they are using this system the wrong way and towards activities that move them away from these realities.

A strategy that will help you bring this hack away from the dark side that is a mediocre life is first to get clear on what you do enjoy. What are the things that bring you joy? How do you like to be rewarded and what do you like to be rewarded with?

Then use your plan as your accountability checklist. Accomplish things on your plan, and give yourself one of these rewards.

The crazy thing is any goal you set can become frustrating as you work through the process, and you can get derailed through that frustration.

So, it’s important to keep your goals bite-sized so you can focus clearly on the small victories that you can reward yourself for. Doing so will help you stay focused, energized, and resilient. This process will also help you build these habits into your subconscious and over time they will become automatic, which means you will need to focus less time, energy, and attention on them.

Practicing these hacks will likely turn you into an automated goal-accomplishing machine.
